ABOUT THE LAB

Music as a
territory to explore.

A musical journey can begin with a song, a rhythm, a melody or simple curiosity. From there, a universe opens up: listening, technique, improvisation, repertoires and encounters between cultures.

World Music Lab brings together the artistic and educational work of Roberto Stimoli, guitarist, composer and music educator. Rooted in the guitar and open to the sounds of Brazil, the Mediterranean, Africa, Latin America, jazz, traditional and contemporary music.

From Johannesburg to Paris and Versailles, and since 2021 in Sicily, Roberto's musical path has grown through different places, traditions and encounters. He holds an ABRSM Level 7 Diploma in Music Performance, Guitar Performance, with distinction (Johannesburg, 2004).

Duo Cafuné

Roberto Stimoli & Alessandra Di Prima. Voice, guitar, clarinet, kalimba, marranzano and percussion in a musical dialogue between Brazil, Africa, Greece and Southern Italy.

Armonia Viajera

Roberto Stimoli's solo project: guitar, clarinets, kalimbas, voice, electronics and loop station, travelling through Brazilian and Latin American traditions, Mediterranean atmospheres, African influences and improvisation.

Strings of Sicily

Roberto Stimoli & Pasqualino Cacciola. A meeting between the Sicilian mandolin repertoire of great local composers and Brazilian instrumental music, especially choro.

Volu Volu

A collective project with Simona Di Gregorio, Pasqualino Cacciola, Giuliano Gerardi and Roberto Stimoli, connecting Sicilian popular traditions, Mediterranean sounds and contemporary creative exploration.

Bandamenano

Mare Aperto · 2026. Six musicians: Roberto Stimoli, Daniele Zappalà, Carmelo Venuto, José Mobilia, Alfio Di Bella and Antonio Catalfamo. A collective journey across Mediterranean sounds, rhythms and languages.
